Castle S03E01 A Deadly Affair

I was super excited for the season 3 premiere of Castle that premiered yesterday because I loved the past couple seasons full of mystery, intrigue, and comedy - and it fulfilled my every expectation.

The show definitely began with a bang, literally. The opening scenes were ones of chaos, running, and Beckett and Castle pointing their guns and shooting - at each other. The comedic elements were really well done, as always. However, I didn't enjoy the parallels to Castle's 'home life' as much this time around.

Usually the show relies on using the characters of Castle's daughter and/or mother to help him understand how he has blundered in his relationship with Beckett. This time it felt as though the point the writers were trying to make was too blatantly obvious.

Other than that small point, the plot line really captured my attention, as Castle frequently appeared in the right place at the wrong time. I adore this show and can't wait until next week's episode.
